In May, our movie night will take place on Saturday, May 25th. It will start at 6:30 pm with a potluck dinner at our AFGO office, followed by the screening of a French movie subtitled in English.
This month, we will be featuring the film “Poulet aux prunes” (“Chicken with plums”). This movie is a 2011 drama film directed by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud starring Mathieu Amalric, Maria de Medeiros, Edouard Baer, and Golshifteh Farahani. It is based on Satrapi’s graphic novel of the same name.
Since his beloved violin was broken, Nasser Ali Khan, one of the most renowned musicians of his day, has lost all taste for life. He searches for a replacement but found none that sounds quite the same. Finding no instrument worthy of replacing it, he decides to confine himself to bed to await the end of his life.
