ACTIVITIES

Despite the terrible heat, on August 13 our monthly picnic took place at Mead Botanical Garden (Winter Park), as scheduled. About twenty people participated and a dozen were brave enough to play one pétanque game after the potluck lunch.

The next picnic will take place on Sunday, September 10, starting at 12:30 pm with a potluck lunch, at the same location, followed by pétanque (French ball game) matches, weather permitting.

As far as our French school is concerned, the summer vacation period is over. All our teachers are back and full activity has resumed.

Our summer camp for children (4 to 13 years old)) was quite successful: 54 kids participated altogether, either in June (3 weeks), July (one week) or August (one week).

Besides the standard French courses for adults and children, in-presence in our office or online, AFGO now offers some new programs for children.

 French Morning Immersion (3 to 5 years old)
 Children Beginner Group Class (4 to 6 years old)
 Children Beginner Group Class (7 to 8 years old)
 Children Beginner Group Class (9 to 11 years old)
 Teenagers Beginner Group Class (12 to 14 years old)

As far as “Discover France and Its Culture” is concerned, two new seasons were announced at the beginning of August, both centered on the Northwest region of France. This region is so rich in geography, history, economy and architecture that it was necessary to split the lectures into two five-week programs.

Season 27 started on August 11th (in English) and August 12th (in French), and it will extend until September 9. Season 28 will start on September 15 and will end on October 21.

Please note that starting with season 28 we will only accept registrations for the whole 5-week season. For details and registration please contact Delphine at: thecours2francais@gmail.com.

This month, movie night will take place on Saturday, September 23. As usual, it will start at 6:30 pm, with a potluck dinner, followed by the projection of a French movie subtitled in English, all in AFGO’s office (1516 E. Colonial Drive, suite 120, Orlando, FL 32803). Parking and entrance at the back of the building. Around mid-September, an email with all details will be sent out.
