What is Beaujolais Nouveau?
The Beaujolais Nouveau is an early-release wine, officially released each year on the third Thursday in November. It was originally drunk by workers in the vineyards, who would celebrate the end of the harvest with it. As time went on, the popularity of Beaujolais Nouveau spread throughout France, Paris, and the rest of the world.
There's some intense debate over the legitimacy of this wine, and some chalk it up to a clever marketing ploy. However, the popularity of this wine indicates otherwise, based on the 30 million bottle drunk worldwide each year! There have even been contests to see which vineyard could deliver the first bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau to Paris in a given year.
Come sample this year's Beaujolais Nouveau with us and tell us what you think!
