June Movie Night – Les demoiselles de Rochefort

We have the pleasure to announce that our dear friend, Dr. Danuta Deeb, who is one of our Board members and a long-time sponsor of our movie nights, is now back home, after her March 22 car accident which resulted in serious injuries for her.

She is still busy with physiotherapy several hours per day … but at home.

Though she will still be handicapped, she’s planning to participate in our next movie night, which will take place on Saturday, June 24, and not on June 30 as previously announced.

As usual, this event will take place in AFGO’s office (parking and entrance at the back of the building), starting at 6:30 pm with a potluck dinner, followed by the projection of a French movie, subtitled in English.

For our June 24 event, we selected the movie “Les Demoiselles de Rochefort” (The Young Girls of Rochefort), by the film director Jacques Demy.

Actresses: Catherine Deneuve, Françoise Dorléac.

Delphine and Solange are two sisters living in Rochefort. Delphine is a dancing teacher; Solange composes and teaches the piano. Maxence is a poet and a painter. He is doing his military service. Simon owns a music shop. He left Paris a month ago to return to the place where he fell in love 10 years ago.

They are all looking for love, looking for each other, without being aware that their ideal partner is very close. A film where plotting details is much less important than its feeling of euphoria.
